Octavia’s paintings and other creations always begin with a feeling, a movement of her heart. She sees the creative process as a way to share the beauty of the world, or to convey an emotional experience.  She believes that art can also serve as a modality for personal transformation, by giving us a way to confront or release aspects of identity we have outgrown, and to connect with our higher, more authentic selves.

Octavia has been supported and guided on her artistic path by some incredible teachers: Tony Kallet, Eloise Ristad, and Dr. Nancy Kinney. She is profoundly appreciative of Page Zekonis at Open Window Studio, her current art teacher, whose kind, steady and expert support has been essential as she explores new mediums and new projects.  Octavia is also deeply grateful for Love Mercury’s wisdom, guidance and generosity on her inner journey toward wholeness.

Octavia’s partner Tam Spielman, who is a poet and dharma teacher, is a constant source of inspiration, creative sharing, and joy. They live in Boulder, Colorado where they run a yoga and meditation center together.
